The mission members represent a wide range of
industries including: painting application services,
traditional Guatemalan crafts; manufacturers of wood furniture;
manufacturers of cosmetics; uniform and promotional
clothing makers; janitorial services; manufacturers of chemicals
for the agriculture industry; telecom services; publishing
material for advertising made with ultra violet serigraphy; and
importers of candy and convenience store items.
The Trade Capacity Building Institute, Inc.,
a non-profit organization based in New Orleans, and its partner,
the American Chamber of Commerce Guatemala are pleased to announce
that New Orleans will be hosting a Guatemalan business delegation
from April 16 – 20, 2007. This mission is the last module of a
capacity building program designed and delivered in Guatemala City
during the last quarter of 2006. The following is a listing of the
businesses who will be visiting our area and the objectives they
hope to accomplish while here. We are currently looking for
companies or organizations that would have an interest in meeting
with any of these business people during this event. To receive

1. Servicios y
Aplicaciones de Pintura Industriales y Comerciales, (SERINCO)

Products: Painting application services, coatings and sand blast.
Annual Sales: $1.5 Million in 2006
Method of Operation: They obtain a contract with a contractor,
builder, oil extract company, sugar processing plant, government
projects, or other. Once they get the contract, they sub-hire the
workforce (they have 60 people ready but can hire any number) and
then obtain the products in the local market (if possible).
Objective: Offer painting service and workers in the New Orleans
area and/or offer consulting and advising on paint processes for
specific jobs.

Desarrollo y Capacitación de Pintores y Artesanos de Guatemala (ADYCPA)
(Guatemalan Association for Development and Training for Artists
and Handcrafters)

Products: typical clothing, handicrafts, oil paints, wooden
notebooks, natural notebooks, recycled paper notebooks
Objectives: (1) To find wholesalers or distributors for the
notebooks. (2) Identify and meet with retailers in the home
accessories business. (3) Meet with Art Galleries who might have
interest in purchasing artwork for sale.

Products: Groceries in General: Candies (chewing gum, lollipops,
gels, marshmallows, chocolates, candies with toys); cereals;
cookies; diapers; wet wipes; skin soaps; washing detergent; toilet
paper; powdered milk; detergent; aluminum foil; instant soups.
Objectives: (1) Understand the implication of the DR-CAFTA and how
to benefit from it. (2) Find SUPPLIERS in the United States.

Products: Small wood handicrafts; dining tables; small tables for
living rooms; china cabinets; sofas; chiffoniers; wardrobes;
doors, window frames and furniture in general.
Objectives: (1) Work with the construction industry to supply
doors, window frames, flooring, etc. (2) Work with hotels,
architects, interior designers, etc. that want to design and get
high quality custom made furniture. (In Guatemala, he has designed
and made furniture for former Presidents of Central America and
other wealthy individuals)

Products: Macadamia Cosmetics: body creams, hand creams, soaps,
chap sticks, shampoos, conditioners. Everything is natural and
ecologically made. No additives or artificial odors and flavors.
Approved by the RainForest Alliance and other “green”
organizations in the U.S.A.
Starting capacity: 20,000 units/month.
Objective: Meet with specialized stores, boutiques, spas hotels
and any other place interested in these cosmetics. One of its
unique marketing aspects is that all production is 100%
environmentally friendly. Its production facility is among the few
approved by the RainForest Alliance for its compliance with all
the international rules for ecological and nature protection.

FSTEX,
S.A.

Products: Fabrics and Knitted cotton and synthetic clothing for
men, women, and children. This is a mill and sewing factory that
produces full package, going from knit, dye, sew, screen print,
embellish, pack & ship.
Objectives: (1) Meet with companies interested in having FSTEX
manufacture polo shirts and t-shirts for them. They specialize in
promotional shirts, company uniforms, school uniforms, University
t-shirts and polo shirts with their logo screen printed or
embroidered on. (2) Meet with anyone interested in getting high
quality t-shirts and polo shirts with or without logos. Can
customize for any design.

CTL, S.A.

Products: (1) Manufacturing services for chemicals, mainly
agro-chemicals (i.e. Strike Out Extra); (2) Logistic services for
Central America, Caribbean and South America.
Objectives: Want to meet with (1) retailers, wholesalers, owners
of brands and any company in the agribusiness that wants to
manufacture its products in Guatemala (they are EPA approved in
the USA); and (2) any company that exports to Latin America and
the Caribbean and wants to have a company in charge of their
logistics using Guatemala as a hub.

Products: Publishing material for advertising made with ultra
violet serigraphy
Objectives: Meet with anyone who needs printing – eg. Beverage
industry; food industry; manufacturers of refrigerators and other
industrial products; snack industry; cookies & candy industry;
advertising agencies; marketing agencies; tobacco industry; etc.

Products: (1) Janitorial industrial services; (2) maintenance of
manufacturing plants; (3) metallic structures installers; and (4)
maintenance of this kind of structure.
Objectives: To meet with three kinds of companies (1)
suppliers/manufacturers of machinery for recycling PET PLASTIC;
either new or used equipment; (2) buyers or companies interested
in buying the PET PLASTIC already recycled and ready to be used;
(3) suppliers for janitorial machines and products. They are
specifically looking for hydro washers for industrial use and to
get a representation of a janitorial cleaning tools, equipment or
products to Central America.

Serfatrade, S.A.

Products: Telecom services such as videoconferences, live
satellite transmission, VOIP (Voice over IP), Call Center of any
event that the customer might want.
Objectives: To meet with four kinds of companies: (1) companies or
organizations that make events and would want it to be broadcasted
and transmitted live from anywhere in the world to anywhere in the
world; (2) companies or organizations that need the teleconference
service (on time meetings that can be transmitted to different
places simultaneously thru the internet); (3) companies or
organizations that might be interested in promoting themselves on
their TV Channel that broadcasts in every consulate and embassy of
Guatemala in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. They will soon have this
channel in all consulates of El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua
in these same three countries as well. (4) Companies or
organizations that might be interested in opening their services
of telecommunications in Central America or broadband through
Serfatrade.
