Makerere University Business School and the
Southern University College of Business are the principal
organizers of this Business Forum and Matchmaker
on Uganda. The speakers are drawn from the members of an
inbound trade mission of senior officials from the Uganda
Investment Authority, the Bank of Uganda, the Ambassador of
Uganda to the United States, and 6 Ugandan businessmen and
women.

Located in East Africa, Uganda has a
population of 26 million and an economy that is growing at
over five percent per year. The country offers a wide range of
trade and investment opportunities for U.S. companies. Uganda’s
main exports are coffee, fish products, tea, gold, cotton,
flowers, and horticultural products (total exports reached
$495 million in 2004). The main imports are capital equipment,
vehicles, petroleum, medical supplies, and cereals (total
imports were $1.2 billion in 2004)
