Prior to his appointment, Don Hutchinson served four years as Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development, where his main focus was on working with business and academia and enhancing the state’s industrial base and diversifying the economy by leading the state’s efforts to attract more technology companies to Louisiana. He is a member of numerous state and national economic development organizations and he has received many honors and awards at both the state and national level, including the Advocate of the Year by the LSU School of Business, Technology Leader of the Year by Technology Web Awards, State Executive of the Year by the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, and he is one of only 25 individuals in the United States to receive the GT-25 Doers, Dreamers and Drivers Award by Government Technology Magazine.
